Jump Ropes and Plank Wars!

It was great to get back together for kids class! We picked up right where we left off and had fun learning how to jump rope. Double unders here you come!

Shout Outs:
1. Karsen- great job on your burpees in class!
2.Rebecca and Beth way to complete your 100 burpees for time!

WELCOME Salem! You did a fantastic job on your first day of CrossFit! We look forward to seeing you next week.

A few reminders for the upcoming weeks:

1. Bring homework or a book with you for homework club.

2. Parents, please walk your child into class and pick them up the same way. We want to be sure your kids are safe and going home with the correct people.

3. We will be providing chairs upstairs for the parents who decide to stay and watch class. This will be more comfortable for you, allow us to utilize the gym floor, and remove the temptation to coach/encourage your child, causing them to be distracted and turn their attention to you during class. We are able to do our jobs as coaches effectively when we have the kids' undivided attention. As you notice your child doing something amazing- take a mental note and praise them after class. Thanks for your cooperation with this.

4. April schedule will begin next week. We will now have classes on Thursday from 5:15-6:00 PM and Saturdays from 11:30-12:15 AM. I am so excited to see the progress all the kids will make with the new schedule! Be sure to sign up ASAP as we will have a limited number of memberships available.

Injury Prevention in Kids

Parents, check out this article from The Journal regarding over training and injury prevention. It gives a great overview of the benefits of a quality CrossFit Kids program.

Looking forwarding to seeing all you kiddos on Thursday! If you want, remember to do your 100 burpees for time. I bet you will show up most of the adults in the gym. :)

See you next week!

CD Kids Opening Day: 3/8/12 5:15-6:00

Can you believe it is already here? You can finally answer
YES when your child asks, "Can I come and do CrossFit!?!?!"

The following is a list of things you will need to know for Day 1.

-Parent release and waiver must be signed prior to students participating in class.

-CD Kids should wear comfortable clothes and athletic shoes. We will be running, jumping, tumbling and their clothes should allow them to participate in all activities.

-CD Kids should bring water with them to class.

-The class activities will last for approximately 30 min - the last 10-15 min will be Homework Club. Recent scientific studies of the brain tell us when kids exercise, their brains create new neuropathways that are more receptive to information. The BEST time for your student to study is immediately following their workout. SO. . .send them to class with their toughest subjects’: homework, flashcards, reading book, memory work, etc., and we will work on it at the end of the class. Bonus: Their coach is a certified teacher- so they will receive quality help.

-Parents are welcome to stay and watch. Please refrain from coaching your child or chatting with the other parents during class. We love the parent’s support and your children will feel like superheroes, literally.

-If you are dropping off your child you will need to walk them into class. We don’t want any kiddos running in the parking lot. The same will apply at the end of class.

Parents: for safety reasons, kids will be allowed to play with or on the equipment when directed to do so by Jake or myself. There are lots of heavy and potentially dangerous things in the gym. When they come to the gym have them check with one of us before showing you their new found skills. :) The safety of your child is our #1 concern.
